MINDSWEEP 2012 | Quiz Info


It is with pleasure that we announce the inaugural edition of KQA’s International Solo Championship, titled MindSweep.

We have confirmations from the United Kingdom and the United States, and a few more countries will probably participate.

Mindsweep will be held during the weekend comprising Saturday, 7 January and Sunday 8 January 2012.

The quiz will require participants to answer 200 questions–in two sessions of 60 minutes each with a 30 minute break between sessions for corrections. Please register in advance using the form on this page.

The quiz is split into 10 sections of 20 questions each and is set by Dibyendu Das, Kiran Vijayakumar and Arul Mani.

On the occasion of the prestigious US Open, the fourth Grand Slam tournament of 2011, Audemars Piguet reveals that the world number one tennis player, Novak Djokovic, is to be a brand Ambassador for the watch manufacturer.

Novak Djokovic, who is enjoying an exceptional season in 2011, is thereby proudly joining the brand ambassador team which notably includes a number of famous sportsmen including Michael Schumacher, Leo Messi, American basketball star LeBron James, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and golfers Lee Westwood and Rory Mcllroy.

 Why Djokovic as Brand Ambassador?

A man of simple and modest tastes, Novak Djokovic is nonetheless a genuine aesthete with a particular penchant for the refinement of the timepieces made by the watchmaker from the Vallée de Joux. It was thus entirely logical for Audemars Piguet to set the seal on this friendship with the extraordinary player. It all began several months ago, when he paid a discreet visit to the watch company that is still in the hands of the founding families. During his visit, Djokovic expressed his admiration for the brand’s latest watches in glowing terms after visiting the workshops in Le Brassus, stating how he had been deeply impressed by “the beauty and the complexity of the movements” produced there. “I have discovered a new passion for fine watchmaking and I truly admire both the traditional and modern aspects of the work accomplished by Audemars Piguet.”

This admiration is mutual. Above and beyond his undeniable tennis playing abilities, Audemars Piguet appreciates the generosity and altruism demonstrated by Djokovic, who is involved in a number of charitable endeavours. In 2007, he founded the Novak Humanitarian Fund that operated on various fronts, including providing access to tennis courts and scholarships for young Serbians, donating ambulances to hospitals in Kosovska Mitrovica and Brus, and making a donation to the Gracanica monastery for the redemption of land parcels in Padaliste.

The fund has recently narrowed its scope of activities and operates to provide emotional and programmatic support to children who have lost a parent. In Serbia, the foundation also seeks to promote access to education as well as educational development for all children. To aid in this, Djokovic has partnered with UNICEF Serbia.

In parallel, Djokovic takes part whenever he can in fund-raising exhibition matches, such as on behalf of the reconstruction ofHaiti, in Japan, in Loznica and Kraljevo.

All of which makes it entirely natural for this big-hearted individual and accomplished sportsman to be now officially joining the Audemars Piguet family. News is that James Bond is to become the Brand Ambassador for Indian Railways

If you thought flying cars, a submarine hybrid and a fleet of Aston Martins were James Bond’s only vehicles of choice, you may be in for a surprise.

Daniel Craig, who will star in “Bond 23,” the next James Bond sequel, is likely to be signed as the official brand ambassador of Indian Railways, Dinesh Trivedi, India’s railways minister, said in an interview. He hopes that having Mr. Craig as brand ambassador will revamp the reputation of India’s rail network, which he says is in urgent need of an “image makeover.”

Indian Railways, a state-run mammoth organization, is better known for running behind schedule than for its cutting-edge technology. Its trains are generally packed, old and slow. This is in sharp contrast with the suave image cultivated by James Bond, who typically cruises in sleek, high-speed MI6 vehicles fully kitted with gizmos and gadgets.

It is unclear how sluggish Indian trains fit with the James Bond persona. So what’s in it for Mr. Craig? The new Bond movie’s production company – the London-based EON Productions – is keen to shoot part of the film in India and this would include a train-based action sequence, Mr. Trivedi said. Last week, members of the film’s production team met ministry officials to get permission to film on India’s trains and tracks. Among the conditions set by the ministry to allow them to film: that Mr. Craig lend himself to an Indian Railways television ad. – excerpt from WSJ

Dhoni is brand ambassador for Save Tiger project


Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been made the brand ambassador of Jharkhand’s ‘Save Tiger’ project.

On the occasion of World Environment Day, Jharkhand government also released a poster highlighting the importance of forest and environment in human life along with a photograph of Dhoni.
According to the principal secretary of forest and environment department A K Sarkar, a logo to display Dhoni as the brand ambassador will soon be released.

Japanese car company Toyota has entered into a partnership with Hatsune Miku, a 3D holographic singer with a rising fan base in the US, to front its 2011 Corolla campaign for the Asian American market.

Toyota will sponsor the virtual singer’s first performance in the US, at the Nokia Theatre in LA as part of the Anime Expo 2011 as it rolls out a major marketing campaign including print, TV, digital and social media activity.

A recently released YouTube video of the holographic singer as part of the promotion, notched up in excess of half a million views in just three days.
